Valldoreix was born between 1916 and 1918 as a garden city, a residential development in the vicinity of the Romanesque church of San Cebrián and next to a railway station of the Generalitat de Catalunya. It is currently the most populous decentralized municipal entity in Catalonia, with more than 8,000 inhabitants.
The town is located in the region of Vallés Occidental, in the province of Barcelona. Specifically, at the southern end of the municipality of Sant Cugat del Vallés, at the foot of the Sierra de Collserola.
